Pim came to spend her birthday with us on the 9th of Feburary. We not only took a road trip to the North Shore with Shane but Gus and I took Mom to the big island for two days, which explains the black sand beach. Unfortunatly when we arrived, after checking into our cabin on Kiluea, we discovered that there are a few types of people who should not inhale the sulfur that comes out of the volcano. Gus and I (pregnant) filled two of those categoies so we were unable to walk down to the water and witness the constant flow of lava into the ocean. I'm not sure Mom was as disappointed as I was and I think she may have had a good time regardless but I was totally bummed. Guess we'll have to go back after this baby is born. "P" enjoyed the birthday cake we made or her. By "we" I mean me with an occasional "i cream please" coming from below the counter. I think Gus ate more icing during the consruction process than he did when we actually ate the cake.

Morning ritual

On pretty mornings we make our way to our dock to check out what MoMo (Nemo) and Dory are doing. Most mornings these days we're lucky to see a sea worm, if you've never seen one of those consider yourself lucky. Pretty gross. Since the big earthquake in October the fish have slowly moved farther out on the reef. Not sure if that's a reflection of the earthquake or the time of year. Whatever the case we're lacking the beautiful fish we had when we moved in. Doesn't stop Gus Cousteau from begging for the privilage.
We're waiting for the pictures from Mom's camera so when they are emailed I'll post again.

Having my hands full!

And this is what happens when you fall back asleep for 15 minutes. Thanks alot Daddy!
Good color for him though! He had a ball, me not so much when I had to try and remove lipstick from everything from the sheets to the walls. This wasn't his only experience with make up in the month of February. My Mom flew in to Honolulu on the 8th of the month, for 10 days. In the middle of that visit, Gus was sent to his room for his afternoon nap. Since our current home only has 2 bedrooms, Gus and P were roommates which means that her suitcases were at his disposal most of the time. On this particular day he opened her suitcase and discovered her matte base and decided to play Indian. It was a mess, I'm pretty sure there was nothing left of that brand new compact of base. P wasn't amused so no pictures were taken of that particular incident. Anyone interested in a 2 year old? How bout just a long visit without his parents?
